Director's Statement for "Form & Spirit" Exhibition
August 10 - October 13, 2003

Powerful, poetic, exemplary and universal are a few descriptions that come to mind when I think of or describe the work of Glen Rogers. For over 20 years, I have had the pleasure to witness her body of work that is consistently recognized by colleagues, peers, critics and general audiences.

Glen's accomplishments and active participation in the support and promotion of the Greater Bay Area arts community have helped make a difference for community members of all ages and cultural backgrounds. Her years of service as an active board member of numerous non-profit art organizations, committee member, curator, educator, artist-in-resident, grant committee member, and arts liaison have been nothing short of extraordinary.

It is in the arena as an artist of vision, sensitivity, maturity and continuing evolution that I want to acknowledge and recognize her efforts and accomplishments as one of this region's most gifted artists. If this artist's future follows her past, then we are all on a significant and wondrous journey, a journey that you should not miss. For some of you this exhibition at the Triton Museum of Art marks your introduction to works by Glen Rogers; let your journey begin now. For others including myself, each encounter welcomes and reiterates what we already know, that here is an artist of significance.
