In this workshop, I share two of my passions – monotype printing and celebrating the Divine Feminine through art. Let’s deep dive into goddess archetypes, symbols, connecting with our ancestors, mothers, and grandmothers. The studio is our cauldron where we create the magic, merging ink and paper to develop one-of-a-kind prints.

For all levels, beginner to advanced. The Monotype process encourages playfulness and exploration of ideas, perfect for traditional styles to looser abstraction. As we work on our individual projects, we will apply ink to the plate with brush or roller and embellish with color, texture, collage, and stencil. Everyone receives Glen’s individual attention to guide them from idea to finished print.

What is a Monotype?  Monotype (or monoprint) is a one of a kind print made by painting or drawing on an acrylic plate. It is then run thru the etching press with a damp sheet of paper, transferring the image to paper. Often called the “painterly print,” monoprint is a great way to explore your creativity. The medium supports everything from fine detailed, traditional styles to looser, free abstractions. We often use multiple color runs thru the press to develop a richness and depth in the work.

Connecting Mind. Body. Spirit – we will use all our tools for a Creative Experience.

You will walk away with more than a suite of prints!

BeArtz  is located in a 1000 year old ancient castle converted to a building to accommodate artists and creators in SW France set in a medieval village called Sauveterre de Béarn on the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. I'm told it's quite spectacular with a view from the village terrace to the Pyrenees Mountains, with a river down below for hikes and swimming!

For workshops there are 8 bedrooms available in The Castle.  Please see the photo galleries for pictures of the bedrooms on the BeArtz website. There will be a welcome dinner on Sept. 3. A continental breakfast is provided in the morning. Lunch is included at a local cafe overlooking the river. (I hear fabulous!)  There is a huge shared kitchen which can be used for meal preparation. And there are shops in the village nearby with fresh local produce and a deli with prepared foods and about 7 cafés to choose from to eat in the evenings.

Dates: September 3 - 10, 2026.  (Arrive on the 3rd, depart on the 10th)

An 8 Day Experience with 6 days in the studio and 1 or 2 days of exploration/field trip (cost not included in Fee.) This is one of the field trips - a Paleolithic Cave site, https://www.grottes-isturitz.com/ (approx 10 Euro entrance fee).

My workshop will offer Monoprint and exploration with found objects. (More info below!)

The Workshop takes place in two spacious studios with 1 etching press and plenty of room to spread out and work.

There will be plenty of time to explore the village, go on walks (the Camino Trail) runs right through Sauveterre de Béarn, go for swims in the river and soak up the local culture.
